About Our School

Established in 1981, First United Methodist Preschool is nestled in the heart of historic downtown St. Cloud and has been in operation for 43 years. Our safe and secure campus features a state of the art video camera monitoring system. All staff are experienced, certified and have participated in annual Active Shooter, First Aid, Fire Extinguisher, and CPR training.

Each classroom provides learning-based centers that cover all aspects of a child’s developmental needs. Class sizes are limited and all classrooms have a teacher and full-time teaching assistant. Our school is a licensed DCF and VPK Provider.
We take pride in being a traditional preschool and not a daycare facility. Children, ages 3-5, learn and develop in a loving Christian atmosphere. Our classrooms are child-centered, active-learning environments where students develop a variety of skills and concepts through meaningful experiences. Activities that exercise the child’s developmental stages and encompass all styles of learning are provided.

All classes participate in the Frog Street Curriculum and our Pre-K classes cover all the VPK Florida State Standards. Children participate in Chapel weekly and school-wide Group Music & Movement events once a month, in addition to what is provided in class daily. Parent participation is always welcomed! In addition, on-site field trips are included in our curriculum.

Our Programs

Both of our school programs run from 8:30AM-12:30PM

Preschool

Preschool is offered three days, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This program is for children who will be three years old by September 1st of the current school year. This class is designed to prepare the children to be self-sufficient and independent learners. Preschool is a stepping stone to prepare children for Pre-Kindergarten.

Tuition for three day Preschool is $325 a month for 10 months ($3250 for the year). There is a $125 non-refundable registration fee to enroll.

VPK Pre-Kindergarten

We participate in the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program paid for by the State of Florida. There is NO tuition or registration fee charged for the VPK four hours per day, four days per week program with Certificate of Eligibility. This is not based on income, but is provided for through the Early Learning Coalition. VPK registration fees are waived for four hours per day, four days per week program with Certificate of Eligibility (application in Parents section). Parents are responsible for signing their child's attendance record each month and adhering to our Attendance Policy to maintain enrollment in VPK.

Pre-Kindergarten is offered four days per week, Monday through Thursday, for children who will be four years old by September 1st of the current school year. This class is designed to prepare children to enter Kindergarten the following school year.
